The most fashionable table in Africa is being set again this November. Confections x Collections, the celebrated Mount Nelson showcase that marries couture with confection, returns for its fourth edition with a renewed appetite for slow luxury.

Curated by sustainability platform Twyg, the three-day celebration has become a fixture on Cape Town’s cultural calendar, bringing together designers, editors, and tastemakers who view fashion as both heritage and experiment. The event transforms the iconic hotel into a sensory playground where taste and texture meet, reminding the world that African luxury is as thoughtful as it is beautiful.

This year’s theme, Our Homecoming, draws from the continent’s textiles and techniques that have long told stories of identity, belonging, and artistry. Each participating designer interprets heritage through a modern lens, blending craftsmanship with cultural symbolism.

Shelley Mokoena of CONNADE, recently featured at Milan Fashion Week, continues to shape her architectural approach to womenswear with precision and presence. Her designs balance softness and structure, echoing the rhythm of natural form.

Anil Padia of Yoshita 1967, a Kenyan designer trained in Paris, explores Indo-Kenyan heritage through garments that evoke ritual and reverence, each piece a meditation on femininity and continuity.

Luke Radloff of UNI FORM reimagines the future of artisanal work through minimalism, using handwoven cotton and knitted mohair to express both innovation and restraint.

Returning to the CxC runway, Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa Africa continues to expand his language of colour and symbol, reaffirming Xhosa iconography as a global design code.

“Following the success of previous editions that welcomed designers like Thebe Magugu and Sindiso Khumalo, Confections x Collections continues to ignite conversation about sustainability and the future of African fashion,” says Twyg founder Jackie May.

Each evening unfolds as a single performance, fusing fashion presentation with culinary artistry. Guests move from runway to table as Mount Nelson’s Executive Sous Chef, Vicky Gurovich, reinterprets the hotel’s iconic Afternoon Tea in dialogue with the collections. The result is not simply a showcase but a series of immersive acts where style is plated with the same precision as pastry.

“We are honoured to continue Mount Nelson’s role as a home for Africa’s creative leaders,” says Patrick Fisher, General Manager of the hotel. “Confections x Collections exemplifies Belmond’s commitment to celebrating the continent’s design excellence through experiences that engage every sense.”
